   Gunhill is a band from the 90's which featured John Lawton, the former lead singer of Uriah Heep. This twofer collects together the cassette / fan club only release One Over the Eight ( / CD: ) and the now out of print and virtually impossible to find second album Night Heat!/5(7).

   This time around, and in the s, Lucifers Friend returned with John Lawton and an album called Sumogrip. It showcased basically new material, and also a couple of old songs in updated versions. Sumogrip blends the 90s sound with, a 70s sensitivity, some AOR, keyboards, melodies and more pop than heavy rock all along this one hour album.

   Lucifer's Friend is the first studio album by the hard rock band Lucifer's Friend, released in Lucifer's Friend would change directions multiple times on upcoming albums. However, the progressive and krautrock influenced proto-doom metal on this album lives up to the sinister cover.

   A downside of the album is that it lacks the varied instrumental textures that would make Lucifer's Friend's later work so interesting, but it makes up for this problem with a consistently high level of energy, clever arrangements, and a full-throttle vocal performance from Lawton. All in all, Lucifer's Friend is a solid debut and a worthwhile.

   The last release from this group fronted by John Lawton (Uriah Heep) is very diverse and an excellent listen. Lucifer's Friend, throughout their career, has always embraced variation in style in their recordings Sumogrip carries on that proud tradition. Stand out tracks incl. One Way Ticket to Hell, Cadillac, Any Day Now, Step by Step /5(2).
